20 Outstanding Women!
We found the women who go above and beyond to make their communities a better place to live. Those unsung heroes in our neighborhoods – the ones who are already busy, yet find the time to give back in big ways to help others.

Today's Outstanding Woman is,
Janet Huston of Glenville
Janet has been a dedicated volunteer throughout her life helping out at churches, schools and even founding a support group called Families for the Future. While raising her own family she opened her heart and home to additional children growing their family by 2 and inspiring her to start Families for the Future, a support group with activities for families that were mixed race due to adoption or had "hard to place" children. Janet has worked as a Nurse throughout the years in Schools, Hospice Care Centers, and even getting her practitioner license so that she could administer vaccines while on mission projects. She has volunteered helping migrant workers, people in inner-city locations, flood victims and victims of other natural disasters through the country, and has been to multiple countries as part of volunteer mission groups. Now, in her mid-80s, she is still volunteering most Sundays serving free breakfasts to inner-city residents of Schenectady, promotes social justice and travels as part of an intergenerational group to help with mission projects. Her desire to help others seems unstoppable.
