The rallygoer who was killed during Saturday's assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump has been identified. Authorities say it was 50-year-old Corey Comperatore, a former fire chief for Buffalo Township in Butler County. Comperatore's wife says he "died a hero" after diving onto his family to shield them from gunfire. At a press conference Sunday, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro said "Last night at this rally, Corey was the very best of us. May his memory be a blessing." Two other people were critically injured in the attack and are currently hospitalized. How should Comperatore and the other victims be honored?

On Saturday (July 13) gunshot-like noises forced former President Donald Trump from the stage minutes into his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Two senior law enforcement officers said Trump would survive. One ear and the side of his head were bloody. Trump reached for his face as popping sounds sounded out over the rally while speaking. He squatted as Secret Service operatives approached him on stage. After being promptly put into a car, he left the stage with agents all around. Screams from the audience accompanied the scene. During the weekend in Delaware, President Joe Biden was briefed on the situation, a senior White House official said. A senior Biden campaign spokesperson tells NBC News that the campaign is monitoring the situation. Politicians began praying for Trump on social media minutes after the incident. Story developing.
