After it was shut down on Sunday, Moreau Lake State Park is once again open for visitors. In a Facebook post Thursday, the park laid out additional security measures it is taking after a 9 near old girl was abducted from the park last weekend:
• Increased Park Police and New York State Police patrols in the park
• Installed new security cameras in time for the holiday weekend
• Increased the presence of Park Rangers
New York State Parks Commissioner Erik Kulleseid thanked the hundreds of police, FBI and volunteers who helped find Charlotte and said state parks will continue to ensure the public's safety.
State Parks are a source of relaxation and recreation for so many people, and we are committed to ensuring that sense of tranquility and trust for our patrons.
Nine year old Charlotte Sema was taken from the park on Saturday night, she was found alive and in good health two days later at a home in Milton. Her alleged abductor, Craig Ross Jr., was charged with first degree kidnapping.
