The B95.5 and Medical Staffing Network - Nurse of the Month for May is Karri Durr-Roach from the Mohawk Valley Psych Center in Gloversville!
Karri was nominated with the story below..
A few years ago Karri came into my life in one of the worse times. She was my nurse but also my friend. She never gave up on me at the most difficult time of my life. I was in hospitals for about a year at MVPC. And if it wasn’t for Karri who was and still is a RN there I tell ya, that I would not be where I am now. I am not sure how to explain this but I will say for anyone to work there, they have to have a lot of patience and understanding. Not just anyone can do this job. I put her, along with the other staff through hectic situations while I was there. But she NEVER gave up on me and NEVER let me give up on myself. I am now working a Full time job as a CNA and I have my driver’s license. I also work part time at second nursing home as a CNA. I have not been Hospitalized in over 2 years now which is a record for myself. I own my car and have been able to hold two jobs. And I owe most of this for the one special nurse that never gave up on me and I still keep in touch with her to this day. Psych nurses go through a lot and I don’t think people realize it. But I really wanted to give thanks and something back to the one who turned my life around and MADE A HUGE Difference. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.
